About Carlos Quirós
Mr. Quirós was born in San Rafael, Mendoza in 1940. In his home easel painting was part of the daily life for his Italian mother María Pecchia and his uncle Ciro. Such was the context and the climate in his household, a country winery surrounded by vineyards that had a great influence in his early development.
During the 1960´s he moved to the City of Mendoza to study Communication.
Professional Activity
- Political journalist for over four decades in:
- Mendoza (Los Andes Newspaper, correspondent of la Prensa and Founder of the Magazine "CLAVES", de cultura y política)
- Buenos Aires (La Opinión Newspaper, "VIGENCIA" Magazine published by University of Belgrano, and Clarín Newspaper).
- In Buenos Aires, in the mid 70´s he regularly attended the workshop of a Mendoza painter Enrique Sosbich, who trained him in the pastel techniques that led him to discover the endless possibilities of color.
- His experience in digital techniques dates back from the time when PCs arrived at editorial departments to replace typewriters. With the Paint program he discovered a way of drawing and painting with a different tool.
- At present he works with a MAC using different painting programs such as Photoshop and Corel Painter 8, using pastel, oil and watercolor among others.
- His first exhibited works were printed on paper and then on "Canvas" and in his latest exhibitions vinyl canvas.

- 3° National Visual Art Salon (Multiespacio Pabellón IV) in December, "Digital Art Mention" for the work "En Manifestación". Printed on paper. Size A3
- "Color/Paint/Color" – First individual exhibition in BRAQUE Art Gallery, in May 2003. Printed on paper. Size A3
- Invited by the Journalists Association of Mendoza, he exhibited 30 works from the previous exhibition, "Color/Paint/Color", in June 2003. Printed on paper. Size A3.
- 1° Digital Art Award for the work "En la Pasarela", awarded by the X Salon EDEA Painting Gallery in August 2003. The jury selected the work "Tres Piqueteros". Printed on canvas. Size 40 x 52 cm.
- 1° Digital Art Award" in the 41° Gran Boulevard Hotel Competition, organized by "Abriendo Caminos en el Arte", for the work "Naturaleza Muerta II". December 2003. Printed on canvas. Size 40 x 52 cm.
- "Fantasías Realidades y Otros Colores" – Second individual exhibition at the National Archive in July 2004. Printed on canvas. Size 40 x 52 cm.
